The Slick 360 aircraft was designed almost exclusively with competition aerobatics in mind.
The vision was to have a modern aerobatic aircraft designed and manufactured that possessed the ultimate balance of power, weight and manoeuvrability. The aircraft was to be built from composite materials such as carbon and carbon Kevlar. This was the brief that was given to Global Composite Solutions (Pty) Ltd.
The Slick aircraft has undergone continual refinement and the latest edition of the Slick 360 - No 009 gained a lot of input from modifications undertaken to the Red Bull Edge540 Racer modified by GCS.
Enhancements include low profile canopy, laminar flow spats, a modified elevator without additional balance horns and the shorter length ailerons from the the Slick prototype were re-adopted. Under the skin the wing was built using prepreg carbon as opposed to a wet lay-up process and the craft is powered by a 220HP parallel valve engine mated to a two blade Milbauer propeller.
The cockpit features a full glass interface, MGL Avionics Odyssee EFIS and an adjustable seat. Final dry weight is down to 465kg which is an impressive 35kg weight loss.
